Abisko - Aurora and the ICEHOTEL Level 1

 We had an absolute blast, it was probably the best holiday we have ever had.  Mina and her staff we so kind and helpful and the food was fantastic.  Clausse who took us ice fishing was amazing and so knowledgeable and the guys we went husky riding with were an absolute joy to be with.  Everyone was so friendly that even though we were there only 3 days we felt like we had known them for ages. 

The scenery was spectacular even if it did go dark about 2:00pm. On the Tuesday night we went up to the Sky Station there had been some aura activity most of the evening but about 11:00pm things really took off.  We lay in the snow unable to comprehend what we were seeing.  At one point the aurora became what they call an aurora curtain to say it was spectacular would be an understatement.  The next day when we walked into the village the villagers were all talking about it for apparently it has been some time since they had seen that kind of display.  

That night the gods were on our side because that was the only clear night we had.  The Ice Hotel did not disappoint.  Again everyone was so helpful.  The day we spent riding the reindeer was one I personally will never forget.  There had been very little aura activity there and the people we got talking to were amazed by  our pictures.  We have had to e-mail the pictures to them.  It is a holiday I would thoroughly recommend and we would certainly like to do this type of holiday again now we have had a taste of it.  We would also like to go in the summer months and experience the Land of the Midnight Sun so you will be hearing from me again.
