we know......
We have changed the location slightly for summer 2012 which makes the new base for this holiday the charming town of Bovec in the heart of the beautiful Soca Valley.
The scenery in this area is extremely impressive and recently some scenes from the Chronicles of Narnia; Prince Caspian were filmed in the local area. We have featured holidays in Slovenia for several years but this is our best base yet! The town of Bovec has a number of friendly restaurants, bars and shops and due to its proximity to the Soca River has now earned a reputation as one of Slovenia’s premier adventure sports centres. Your hosts for this week are Thomas and Tamara who we have worked with for many years. Their complete focus on safety is what sets them apart in this region and the relationship they build with our guests is fantastic. You could not be in more experienced hands for your activities as Thomas has an impressive history of training the British Army for many years.
you know.....
“From booking to transfers home everything went smoothly and you made it easy for us. It really was a fabulous holiday. The Soca valley is stunningly beautiful and so unspoilt.” Julia Stevens - August 2010
Suitable for
Families with children aged 8 years and older (this does not preclude families with children younger than 8 but
they may not be able to take part in all activities).
saturday - arrival and welcome
You will be met at the airport by a representative and transferred to the hotel in Bovec. Here you will settle into your rooms and maybe have a quick swim before a welcome meal in the evening.
sunday - exploration treasure hunt
Your first activity this morning is designed for you to get to know the area in and around Bovec and the nearby town of Kobarid. After some team building games and orienteering we will go to the beautiful Nadeesha River near Kobarid to enjoy swimming, volleyball, children’s play area and the ancient art of Slovenian sumo wrestling. After the games a picnic meal will be served.
monday - canyoning
After breakfast you will transfer to the Susec Canyon which, in our opinion, is one of the best in the Soca Valley. It has numerous slides, jumps, climbs and abseils and also two stunning 15 metre waterfalls. Thomas has endless experience in the canyon and will be on hand to help anyone who needs it and point out the best places to jump from for those who are really brave!
tuesday - tubing and mini rafting
Tubing is a great activity, especially in this beautiful part of the world. You will sit in a large inflatable tube and float downstream using your paddle to steer whilst marvelling at the beautiful scenery. After lunch you will continue along the river by mini rafting with two or three people in each raft as you work together to negotiate the Soca River.
wednesday - free day
Today we have left free and you can either enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and proximity to the town to relax or head out on some additional activities (bookable and payable locally). One of the best features of this new hotel is its spa facilities (Amy really enjoyed testing these out during her visit!).
thursday - climbing and abseiling
Today you take advantage of Bovec’s proximity to Italy by crossing over the border to make use of a fantastic new outdoor climbing wall area. With full safety equipment and instruction you will spend the day developing your skills and confidence on the climbing wall. This activity is set in a beautiful area which is a great place to relax for the remainder of the day.
friday - white water rafting
Today you will head back to the Soca River but this time for some team building in rafts of up to 8 people. You must work together to steer the raft along this stunning stretch of the Soca River (we recommend waiting for a calmer section to gaze around and admire the view). This evening a farewell dinner will be served for the group in the hotel restaurant.

It is possible to extend your stay in Slovenia or alternatively it’s time to head back to the airport for your return flights home.

The area of The Soca Valley is a superb example of local people working together to ensure that the local environment, which is the lifeblood of their economy, is protected against the influx of mass tourism. The River Soca is so clean that you can simply drink from its clear waters without fear.
In Slovenia we actively encourage the development of the training of local guides who receive their diplomas from the University of Ljubljana. Our presence allows these guides to develop their international language skills through constant interaction with our groups.
Tolmin itself lies on the edge of the Triglav National Park and taking clients there on one activity day we educate them in how tourism can impact on the ecology of the region if not managed carefully.
