Salla Log Cabins - One Bedroom

Salla Log Cabins, Salla, Finland, Lapland

These well equipped cabins are all within easy walking distance of the local facilities. You can choose between cabins which have either one bedroom or those with one bedroom and an additional mezzanine loft area with room for four more beds.

Each cosy cabin has its own living room with a log fire and TV. Half board is included in the price however as the kitchens are equipped with hot plate, microwave oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and a washing machine it is possible to self cater and discounts will of course be applied to your booking (although the shopping facilities in Salla are not extensive).

Your cabin will have a private sauna, an invaluable drying cupboard and a toilet/shower room.

The Kiela à la carte restaurant is where you will have breakfast and dinner and is a very short walk from the cabins. The restaurant is extremely good and features a range of Lappish dishes as well as international cuisine and offers an excellent wine list.

Guests at the cabins tend to gather at the Papana Pupi pub in the evenings. It's a warm and uncomplicated kind of place with a pool room at the back dedicated to Finnish ice hockey legend Jari Kurri – a place to delve into local life.
There is also a collection of sporting memorabilia on the walls. Take them a football shirt or scarf to add to their collection and you will have made friends for life.

These self contained cabins provide an excellent base for families and couples alike and an authentic way to experience winter in Finland.

Alistair Mclean - Activities Abroad

"On my first visit to Salla I met two lovely sisters, Tarya and Rauni. Between them they seemed to run the village. Rauni is the sales manager for the Revontuli Hotel and cottages and Tanya is in charge of the cabins just across the road. To cap it all they also own the village shop! They have obviously got the place sewn up. Fortunately, they didn't seem to object to being dubbed the 'Salla Mafioso' and between us we've come up with some great value winter activity holidays here in Salla." Ali McLean

"The Activities Abroad staff who made our booking were always friendly and knowledgeable whenever we phoned up to ask any questions, and it really does make a difference that some of them have visited the same area (or similar) for a holiday and can talk about their own personal experiences. One woman we spoke to advised us to take goggles for the husky safari - thank you for that, they are a definite must have if it is snowing! In Finland, the staff in the Kiela restaurant and reception were excellent. They were friendly and welcoming, and happy to talk about the local area and advise us on the best Schnapps to try! They also have a very good chef who made us some lovely traditional Finnish dishes using local produce. We would particularly like to thank and commend our "Overnight Husky Safari" guide - Saija - at the Reindeer Park in Salla. She was fantastic - very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, supportive and friendly. Our husky safari was the highlight of the holiday, and we loved every minute. Gliding along with just the sound of the dogs and the sled in that beautiful snowy wilderness is an incredible experience. Saija gave very clear instructions as to how to drive the sled and look after the dogs so we felt very confident with her. She also cooked us some lovely meals over the camp fire! We'd really like the company to pass on our heartfelt thanks to her. We will definitely return to do the husky safari again! Your comments? We had a wonderful week and would definitely like to return in the future. It was very helpful that things such as boots and thermal overalls were provided as they are expensive to buy and very bulky to pack for a flight. All the activities were well organised and all the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely every activity we did was brand new to us so at times it was challenging but we had a great time and would definitely recommend it to others." Lisa D'Agostino - Mar 10
