Saturday: Flights, arrivals and transfers
On arrival at Marrakech Airport we will be greeted by our local guide and transferred the short distance to our hotel. There will be a welcome dinner this evening.
Sunday: Mystical Marrakech exploration
Today we get to go right under the surface of this vibrant and fascinating city. We will explore the Medina (old city) and have lunch with a local family.
In the afternoon we explore the maze of souks taking in the sights, sounds and smells before heading to the legendary Jmaa el Fna square. The entertainers, snake charmers and musicians create a truly mystical atmosphere. This evening is free for you to sample the culinary delights of Marrakech on your own.
Monday: Tallatast Berber village
Today we all visit a real Berber village. We will head to the village of Tallatast in the Atlas Mountains, meet the locals and experience family life in rural Morocco. Everyone can get involved with activities in the village, whether it be making mint tea or having a game of football with the local school children.
Tuesday and Wednesday: High Atlas hiking
Today we swap Marrakech for the mountains and head up into the High Atlas to the village of Lmlil for our own Atlas adventure. We will set off on a soft hike under the shadow of Mount Toubkal (Morocco's highest peak and arrive at the remote village of Armed. Our luggage will be carried by some very obliging mules! We will spend tonight in a simple guesthouse in a spectacular location, a real mountain experience for the whole family.
The next morning our Atlas adventure enters day two as we hike back towards Lmlil where our transfer will be waiting to take us to Terres d'Amanar, our delightful base for the remainder of the holiday. Dinner will be served upon arrival.
Thursday: Mountain biking
Set in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Terres d'Amanar is a real gem and totally unique in Morocco. There are many activities available here and we have picked out some of the highlights. Today we can take part in our two hour mountain biking tour. Full instruction on how to handle our bikes will be given before we head off with our guide around the trails and hills that surround Terres d'Amanar.
You can however pick and choose whether or not you wish to participate as some may choose the relaxing activity of admiring the view from the pool!
Friday: High ropes adventure
Today we can choose to participate in the first high ropes course in North Africa. In the shade of large pine trees we can spend time zipping across ravines, swinging between trees and climbing obstacles in the tree tops. It is an ideal activity for all as there are many levels of challenge. Guides will select the most appropriate routes for us. For those over 12 there is also the option to try the zip wires and bridges that are suspended high across the valley - a head for heights is a must. After the activities a farewell dinner will be served.
Saturday: Depart or extend your stay
This morning we will be transferred back to Marrakech for our return flights. Alternatively you could take advantage of one of our extensions in Morocco. There are so many things to see and do in this beautiful country that we thought we'd better give you some extra choices.
We have a desert adventure which takes you through magnificent ancient cities and then on to the Sahara desert for an overnight camp before arriving in the vibrant city of Fez.
As a second alternative you can head to the coast and the laid back town of Essaouira. The whitewashed buildings are delightful but it is the consistent trade winds that blow in that draw in the acivity enthusiasts. We can arrange a great hotel, as well as wind surfing and kite surfing lessons.
