Our holiday in Morocco is designed to allow guests to experience the local culture and traditions of the country in a responsible way as well as participating in some excellent activities.

Throughout the holiday clients will meet with local people and experience their way of life as well as their traditions and food. Guests will eat with local families, visit a Berber village supported by our partners in Morocco and stay in a remote and family run guesthouse.

Clients are always encouraged to learn some basics in the local language and to interact with the local people.

We only ever employ local guides and this holiday is no exception. We feel that the money earned from tourism must stay in areas in which it takes place and that local people provide clients with a much better insight into a country and much deeper experience.

We want our holidays to benefit as many people in a destination as possible and feel that by using local suppliers and guides with a strong environmental conscience we can provide holidays which are socially beneficial, economically beneficial and that leave no trace in a destination.

Terres d'Amanar is situated in the foothills of the Atlas and has been designed with the local people and environment in mind. The centre employs are great number of local people in all areas including activity instructors and has spent a great deal of money on training (with instructors being flown in from Europe to qualify guides). Terres d'Amanar supports a number of projects locally through funding as well as through selling local products in their on site shop.

All of the accommodation features local handicrafts and the food served in the restaurant is traditional Moroccan cuisine and sourced locally where ever possible. Some of the vegetables and meat is supplied by the on site gardens.

The activities at Terres d'Amanar are designed to have minimum impact of the surroundings. Mountain biking follows trails and the high ropes courses are hidden within forests.

Terres d'Amanar has created a wealth of employment opportunities in an area of Morocco which is widely overlooked by tourists.

Day One:  Arrivals and transfers.

You will be greeted on arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport and transferred directly to your accommodation at the delightful Riad Borjs de la Kasbah. You will be taken for a welcome dinner at a Moroccan restaurant in the Medina this evening.

Day Two:  Hidden Marrakech

Today it is time to get under the skin of the mystical city that is Marrakech. You get to go right under the surface of this vibrant and fascinating city. You will explore the Medina (old city) and delve into history in the spectacular Bahia palace. You will then have lunch with a local family. In the afternoon you will head into the shaded souks and take in the sights and sounds before heading to the legendary Jmaa el Fna square where snake charmers and entertainers create a truly mystical atmosphere. You will have soft drinks in a café overlooking the square. This evening is free for you to explore the culinary delights on your own, your hotel is only 15 minutes walk away.

Day Three:  TallatastVillage

Today you will get to experience a real Berber Village, well off the tourist trail.  The village of Tallatast in the Atlas Mountains is sponsored by our partners in Morocco and you will get to meet the villagers, learn about their lives and gain an insight into Berber culture.

Day Four:  Transfer to the Atlas

You will say goodbye to Marrakech and head into the stunning Atlas Mountains today.  You will make your way through the mountains to the remote village of Imlil.  Imlil is a popular starting point for ascents of Mount Toubkal, Morocco's highest peak, in whose shadow the village stands.

You will leave the cars behind here and take to the trail for the hike to the world famous Kasbah du Toubkal situated on a hill top with spectacular views across the Atlas, your luggage will be carried by some very obliging mules.  The Kasbah is renowned for its unique accommodation and responsible tourism policies as well as excellent food.  You will spend two nights here perched high in the Atlas Mountains.

Day Five:  Atlas Exploration

This morning you will set off on your guided gentle hike from the Kasbah and have a picnic lunch in delightful scenery.  It's the ideal way to experience the majesty of the mountains without too much exertion.

Day Six and Seven:  Terres D'Amanar

You will depart from the mountains today and head to the foothills of the Atlas where you will check in to Terres D'Amanar, home of some of the best activities in North Africa.  During your time here you have two choices.  You can either participate in some of the daily activities such as the high ropes courses, mountain biking and cookery or relax by the pool and soak up the views.  All of your meals are included during your stay here.

Day Eight:  Departure

Today you will be transferred directly from Terres D'Amanar to the airport for your return flights.

When you get off the plane in Marrakech you could be a million miles from the UK rather than just a 3.5 hour flight away.

This North African gem has all the components for a fantastic adult adventure - beautiful scenery, great culture and some fantastic activities.  Your trip will start in the mystical city of Marrakech where you will have time to soak up the atmosphere before heading off on your adventure into the stunning Atlas Mountains.
