we know....
We discovered this fantastic destination last summer and it is one of our biggest success stories. Almost every departure was full and the feedback from happy clients just kept coming! Malta has been a popular holiday destination for years but the island of Gozo remains relatively untouched by tourists. It is known as the hidden treasure of the Maltese islands and the traditional way of life remains strong. There are regular festivals celebrating the local culture and cuisine which were very popular with visitors last year. The landscape here makes it perfect for an activity holiday with its warm crystal clear sea, tall rock cliffs and beautiful valleys.
Enthusiasts have been scuba diving here for many years and it has a reputation as a word-class diving destination. We have included a taste of this in our weekly programme and last year many families chose to extend their stay here and include more diving during their second week.
Suitable for
Families with children aged 8 years and older (this does not preclude families with children younger than 8 but they may not be able to take part in all activities).
tuesday - flights, arrival and introduction
You will be met at Malta Airport for the transfer to your accommodation; this is approximately a two hour journey which includes a 25 minute ferry crossing.
wednesday - boat trip and snorkelling
Today is designed as an introduction to the beautiful coastline of Gozo and Comino. You will travel by boat along the coast while making several stops for snorkelling and swimming during the day. You will also visit the famous picturesque Blue Lagoon so sit back, relax and enjoy the start of your holiday!
thursday - eco day
We have been sworn to secrecy by our partners in Gozo as they want today to surprise their guests.
However, we can say this was by far one of the most popular activities last year and it involves heading well away from the tourist trails and mixing with the locals as they both work and play. You will visit a traditional farm which has been in the same family for generations, sample some delicious local delicacies and enjoy a special surprise activity in the afternoon.
friday - sea kayaking
You will be picked up from the hotel after breakfast and head to the coast to take to the waters by kayak. You will follow your guide along the coastlines and caves in the area with plenty of time for relaxing and snorkelling.
This evening, a pool side BBQ will be served and for those with any energy left we recommend a visit to one of the local village festivals which run for most of the summer.
saturday - free day
Relax and enjoy the hotel swimming pools, head to the beach, book some scuba diving, explore the island by bus or pamper yourself with some beauty treatments in the hotel spa... the choice is yours!
sunday - climbing and snorkelling
Today you will get an introduction to the sport of rock climbing. Following a full safety briefing and guidance from your expert instructors you can practise your climbing skills on the cliffs.
This afternoon the group will transfer to the beautiful ‘Azure Window’ for some snorkelling time in this beautiful area.
monday - mini b diving
We have saved the best until last with this activity programme. This is an ideal introduction to this under- the-sea world with no need for wet suits or weight belts. You simply wear rucksack type equipment over your swimming costume and after a short safety briefing off you go! You will be diving from a boat and after using the time in the morning to become used to the technique, after lunch you will take part in a second dive where you will have the memorable opportunity to feed a school of bream!
This evening you will finish off the week with a farewell meal in a seaside restaurant.
tuesday - depart or extend your stay
It’s time to bid farewell to Gozo or alternatively we can arrange for you to extend for a second week either to relax or why not try some additional scuba diving in some of the world class dive sites in the area.

Getting there
This holiday includes return flights from London to Malta (regional and flexible departures on request).
The island of Gozo is just 9 by 4 miles in size meaning that all the activities for this holiday are close together keeping motorized journey times to a minimum, any transfers are group transfers.
On such a small island tourism plays an important social and economic role. With limited work opportunities, many young Gozitans are forced to leave the island they love and move to Malta in search of work opportunities. The development of tourism is helping to stem this flow.
The hotel we use has been deliberately chosen as it is Gozitan owned and has an entirely Gozitan staff. The hotel also actively promotes Gozitan heritage as the central part of the hotel is a 350+ year old farmhouse which has been sensitively converted to keep its character whilst the restaurant menu actively promotes locally sourced foods and traditional dishes. This ensures that the economic benefits remain on the island and are spread beyond the hotel’s walls. The hotel is situated on the edge of Xaghra village, within walking distance to the main square where you can support a variety of locally owned restaurants and small shops. It is also the perfect place to interact with the friendly locals as it is very much a traditional village and not a tourist resort.
Our activity providers are truly passionate about their island. They wish to ensure, as do we, that the future of this pristine environment and the local heritage is preserved for generations. This is imparted to our guests throughout the week as clients are given a greater understanding of the heritage and culture, and what must be done to preserve it, in an active way. There is a strict leave no trace policy on all activities and clients will also visit some agri tourism projects throughout their stay.
