we know......
Kas remains an oasis of activity, culture and relaxation set away from the large resorts. It was a natural choice as a base for our activity holiday, it offers the perfect balance between activity, culture and leisure - oh and the weather is pretty good too.
Turkey's spectacular Mediterranean Coast with its turquoise seas and azure blue skies has become an adventure sports hotspot. We explore both the coast and the mountains during our hugely popular activity holiday whilst experiencing the more traditional side of Turkish culture, which has been lost in so many coastal areas.
Cosmopolitan Kas (pronounced 'cash') is a lovely Turkish town which has escaped the mass tourism development further along the coast. With stunning views, a wide selection of bars and restaurants (famous for vegetarian cuisine) and numerous boutiques and bazaars selling everything from clothes to Turkish delight, you will find plenty to do during your stay.
you know.....
“All the activities were fantastic and it is difficult to choose a favourite - I loved the hike; the boys thought the mountain biking was brilliant and my husband loved the tubing. We all enjoyed the sea kayaking and the lazy boat day was perfect.” Sarah Grimwood - August 2010
Suitable for
Families with children over the age of 8 years (please note that this does not preclude younger children but participation in the activities will be at the discretion of our instructors).
monday - flights, arrival and introduction
You will be met at Dalaman Airport for the transfer to your accommodation where a welcome meeting will be held by your hosts for the week.
tuesday - lazy boat day
It is important to begin to unwind as early as possible on holiday so we start with the universally popular lazy boat day. You will board the boat at Kas and spend the day exploring the beautiful coastline, small islands, bays and inlets . There will be the opportunity for swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing and plenty of relaxation with a delicious lunch served on board.
This evening after you have disembarked a group meal will be served in a sea front restaurant.
wednesday - sea kayaking
Today’s activity requires slightly more effort than yesterday but you are rewarded with beautiful views along the coast and paddle over one of Turkey’s most famous sites, the sunken city of Kekova. For lunch we stop at a traditional local village, which can only be reached by boat for some delicious local delicacies.
thursday - picnic hike
By now you will have become very familiar with Kas’ coastline so today you will see a different side to this part of Turkey by heading inland to the mountain range behind the town for a walk in the hills. The group will stop for a picnic lunch along the route on a beautiful highland pasture with stunning views towards the coast.
friday - free day
Today is free for you to try additional activities such as scuba diving, horse riding or paragliding (our local reps will help you arrange these locally). Alternatively you can just relax by the sea - the choice is yours.
saturday - mountain biking
It’s time for some real adventure today as you return to the mountains for some cycling. You will be provided with mountain bikes and safety equipment before exploring the tracks and trails which pass through cool forests and vast open meadows. Don’t worry the support vehicle is always close behind for those who prefer the easy option! The final descent is unforgettable.
sunday - saklikent gorge walk and tubing
We will first explore the dramatic scenery of the Saklikent Gorge where the river rushes between steep sided cliffs. The walk will take approximately two hours before reaching the bottom of the gorge where you will be given a paddle and safety equipment and you spin and twist your way downstream.
The group will stop for a therapeutic mud bath/fight along the way. Rumour has it that it is very good for the skin! This evening a farewell meal will be served in one of the local restaurants.
monday - depart or extend your stay
Today you will be transferred back to Dalaman or you can take advantage of our week long extension.

Getting there
Flight prices: We strongly recommend booking this holiday as early as possible to avoid flight supplements as flight prices to Turkey are likely to rise steeply in summer 2012.
Extending your stay: We can arrange for you to extend your holiday at either hotel. There is a great range of additional activities on offer in Kas and by the end of your first week you will know our local guides extremely well. They will be happy to advise you. Here are some suggestions: Canoeing on the Esen River, scuba diving, horse riding at Patara Beach, paragliding, an evening boat cruise (a popular choice), a stroll to the forgotten city of Phellos or simply relax and soak up the Mediterranean sun.
This family activity holiday is based in the Turkish Mediterranean harbour town of Kas. Our contribution to the local community and economy, as well as our efforts to minimise the environmental impact of tourism in Kas and its surrounding area, takes many forms.
We work only with hotels which are either locally owned or employ members of the local community as key members of staff. Picnic supplies are purchased either from local suppliers or direct from local villagers themselves and lunches on activity days are taken at the homes of local villagers when possible who convert their patios into cafes.
When visiting villages we endeavour to arrive by foot and encourage interaction between our groups and the local community to allow each to develop cultural understanding. When motorised transport or transfers are required we use local drivers, often in owner operated vehicles, which brings work to people who may otherwise be under-employed in the community.
For activities motorised transport is kept to a minimum and the activities themselves use equipment which does not impact on the environment e.g. kayaks, rafts and cycles. We actively encourage the purchase of all activity equipment locally where possible provided it complies rigorously with expected standards of quality and safety.
Production and disposal of plastic waste is also reduced by dispensing drinking water from re-usable large volume containers.
