Our Taster Week title is fairly self-explanatory. This holiday gives you a sample of all of the key winter activities available in Lapland whilst including some free time in which to take advantage of the downhill ski slopes or additional activities available.

You will enjoy mainly half-day activities which include a thrilling snowmobiling trip, dog sledding with a team of eager huskies, ice fishing over frozen lakes, cross-country skiing across the snow and some close encounters with the enchanting reindeer of Finnish Lapland. These activities have been designed to showcase the beautiful wilderness scenery of Lapland and allow you to enjoy some memorable and unique experiences.

Luosto is also renowned as a Northern Lights destination and so we include an Aurora snowshoe hike so you can take part in a family hunt for the Aurora.

As a small ski resort, Luosto is perfectly suited to this style of holiday as there are excellent facilities. The downhill slopes are a real favourite for families and the swimming pool at the Tunturi Hotel is always a popular choice too. A range of additional activities can be booked locally so that you can tailor your holiday should you wish.

If you are lucky enough to be visiting Luosto during the Christmas or New Year period then there will be some really special evening meals provided by the hotel for your family to enjoy. At New Year there will also be fireworks around the village so we recommend doing what the locals normally do and getting wrapped up warm and seeing in the New Year together as a family in a stunning Lappish location!

  • Arctic View Rooms

For a touch of luxury and fun at the end of your exciting family holiday, a night in a fantastic Glass Arctic View Room is a real treat!

Located outside the Tunturi’s neighbouring hotel, Hotel Aurora, these are just a short walk away from your hotel room or cabin.

With their large windows and partial glass roofs they allow their occupants to enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the night’s sky, making them ideal for keeping watch for an Aurora display. Inside you will also enjoy complete comfort and Nordic elegance with cosy furnishings and a fully equipped en suite shower room and TV.

Each also has a double or twin beds and a sofa bed which can accommodate one more person (although it may be a bit of a squeeze!).

The price quoted will be based on spending the final night of your trip in the Arctic View Room. This means you will need to check out of the Tunturi before your stay. There is the option to stay in these a different night of your trip and keep your hotel room, but supplements may apply. Dinner will be served at Hotel Aurora and will consist of a set menu of typically local specialties. Breakfast the following morning will also be served at the Hotel Aurora and will be a buffet of warm and cold dishes.

Experience and fitness

We offer a vast choice of holidays which range from 'relaxed' to 'active' so there really is something for everyone and our holidays can be filtered by how active they are. Regardless of the chosen holiday, all activities will include tuition from a beginner's lever and no prior experience is assumed.
If you are unsure about the physical demands of a particular holiday please contact us and our expert team will be happy to help.
See our booking conditions for further information.

Group sizes and minimum numbers

Most of our holidays require a minimum number of participants to operate. Minimum numbers are detailed on each holiday page and are always approximate. Group sizes for tailor made holidays will vary for each of the activities. For private departures you may also be joined by other guests during the activities unless you have discussed specific private activities with us.

If your selected date has not yet reached minimum numbers you will be informed at the time of booking. In the unlikely event that your chosen date has not reached the required minimum numbers nine weeks before your scheduled departure date we will contact you and discuss the various options available to you. We will always do all we can to operate a holiday and in some cases we may be able to operate the holiday by combining your itinerary with that of other guests for some activities (this may mean that the maximum group size is increased but this will be discussed in full with you).

If we are unable to operate the holiday then you will be offered the chance to transfer to an alternative holiday or date (subject to availability). If the alternative is more expensive you will be asked to pay the difference, if it is cheaper then you will be reimbursed. You will also be offered the option to cancel and receive a full refund of all monies paid.

See our booking conditions for further information.
