Michael is the latest addition to Activities Abroad and is a member of our Products and Operations team. Born in the North East of England with numerous childhood camping trips to the stunning Northumberland Coast, Michael developed a love and passion for active travel from an early age.
After leaving university he was able to acquire a role teaching English in South Korea before spending two years in Australia where he experienced a trip amongst some of the most stunning and inaccessible gorges of Karijini National Park. This trip included abseiling, rock climbing and delving into a deep pool via a natural waterslide.
After a brief return to the UK, Michael developed a passion for writing and photography before taking a six-week winter tour around Europe. This journey took Michael into the Swiss, Austrian and Slovenian Alps before venturing further into Eastern Europe and taking in the pristine sights of Kotor Bay in Montenegro and scaling the ancient walls of Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Michaels passion also extends to summer destinations and perhaps one of his most memorable experiences consist of his journey to Malaysian Borneo with its abundance of wildlife and stunning exotic scenery. This trip included a memorable visit to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary before a tour along the Kinabatangan River in search of the Proboscis Monkey and an array of native birds. In addition to summer adventures of South East Asia and New Zealand, Michael has also experienced serene and enchanting holidays to the Mediterranean regions of Greece, Croatia and Italy which included a variety of sea activities. He has also recently ventured to Morocco and got lost amongst the maze-like souks of Essaouira and Marrakech.
